What is Contrave?
So you may be asking, "What exactly is contrave?" Contrave is a new dieting / weight loss pill being developed by the Orexigen Therapeutics Incorperation. Contrave is a combination of two already known drugs that treat different aliments. Those drugs are Wellbutrin ( the drug to treat depression ) and the drug Naltrexone ( used to curb addictions ).
Contrave has been thought to start working in the stomach, but this is not true. It starts working in the brain to control the brains thermostat, which controls appetite ( among other things ).
Does Contrave work?
Contrave is boosting some impressive results thus far in clinical testing.
A study was conducted to see how much a difference Contrave can make with your weight loss goals. The study found that people taking Contrave lost almost 5% more doing a weight loss program then those who took nothing.
More than 29 percent of the individuals in this study lost more than 15 percent of their body weight.
Contrave side effects and conclusion
Some of the common side effects of taking Contrave included nausea, head aches, and constipation. One individual stated a gall bladder infection and another had seizures.
There will be more information about Contrave as it nears its official release. Orexigen Therapeutics is currently seeking FDA approval for Contrave, and hopes to get it by sometime in 2010. There is no guarantee the new dieting drug will gain acceptance though.
Contrave will most likely be only available through prescription when it is available to the public.

Given that contrave is a combination between bupropion (used as an antidepressant or to stop smoking) and that naltrexone is used for addictions abuse, I wonder if a doctor would be more inclined to prescribe this medication to someone who is overweight and depressed or overweight and has an addictions a problem... any thoughts
